Applicants are invited to apply for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant position funded by the MRC to investigate the role of MRAPs (Melanocortin-2-Receptor Accessory Proteins) in the control of energy homeostasis and adrenal function. This will involve the development and study of in-vivo mouse models. The project aims to identify novel insights into the mechanism of action of these accessory proteins.

Applicants must have experience in modern cellular and molecular laboratory techniques in the field of molecular biology and/or cell biology. Experience in working with rodent models would be highly desirable. Candidates should hold a PhD in a relevant area of cell biology/molecular biology or equivalent. Applicants must have a recognised publication record. The ability to think critically and to work both independently and within a team is essential. Training can also be given where needed and there will be opportunities to attend international conferences.

The post is full-time and fixed term for 3 years starting from January 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter. Starting salary will be £30,350 per annum inclusive of London Allowance.
