This position, under the direction of Dr. Miguel López, is available to study how the hypothalamus regulates energy balance. The project involves in vivo genetically-modified mice, phenotyping, adenoviral work, stereotaxic administration of genetic/pharmacologic agents, lipid metabolism and glucose homeostasis. The main objective will be to investigate whether obesity is associated with lipotoxicity and ER stress in the hypothalamus and then identifying new central signals that might open new avenues for the treatment of obesity and its associated disorders.
The candidate must have a PhD degree and be highly motivated and enthusiastic, with expertise in basic molecular biology/biochemical techniques and prior experience working with mouse models.
