13 Jun 2012

Via www.naturejobs.com. A postdoctoral position is available in the research group of Stephan Speier in the area of diabetes mellitus research. The major objective of their work is to understand the biology of islets of Langerhans under physiological conditions in situ and in vivo. They are particularly interested in translating the observations obtained in animal models into the human situation.

A highly motivated postdoctoral scientist is sought to lead a project on the cell physiology of islets of Langerhans. The study will involve working on animal and human tissue samples using electrophysiology and imaging approaches to study the physiology of the hormone-producing islet cells. The project is part of a Collaborative Research Centre of the German Research Foundation and is initially funded for four years. Candidates should hold a PhD in life sciences or a MD/VMD degree at the time of their employment. A strong background in cell physiology and documented experience in electrophysiological techniques are required.

Please send your application to Dana Krüger ([email protected]), including a cover letter, detailed CV, copies of your certificates as well as recommendation letters and contact details of at least two referees. The closing date for applications is 31 July 2012.
