Postdoctoral fellow, Stockholm, Sweden

Via www.naturejobs.com. Our laboratory in the Department of Neuroscience, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden is interested in determining the properties of neurons and networks in the hypothalamus that underlie control of hormone secretion in the pituitary. We have recently presented a novel model for the dopaminergic inhibition of prolactin release that allows lactation to take place only during nursing in women and not in men.

This project, funded by a grant from the European Research Council will investigate several aspects of network oscillations in tuberoinfundibular dopamine neurons, including the conductances involved, the regulation by hormones and transmitters, the functional relevance of such oscillations and the relevance of network activity in other neuroendocrine populations.
