A postdoctoral fellow position is available at Université Catholique de Louvain, Brussels, Belgium to study the cellular and subcellular mechanisms of control of glucagon and insulin secretion, and their alterations in models of diabetes. Techniques include cell culture, molecular biology (plasmids, adenovirus, PCR), conventional and confocal fluorescence microscopy, TIRF, image analysis, measurements of hormone secretion by RIA and electrophysiology (patch-clamp).

A one year fellowship is available; it is requested that the applicant has a strong CV to apply for a one or two-year extension of the fellowship. The applicant should have a PhD from a different university that has been obtained no more than 6 years before the beginning of the postdoctoral fellowship. Preference will be given to people with strong experience in islet physiology and in experimentation on laboratory animals. Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team will also be beneficial.
