A post-doctoral researcher position is available in the Endocrinology Unit, BHF /University Centre for Cardiovascular Science and the Scottish Centre for Regenerative Medicine, University of Edinburgh with Dr Shareen Forbes.

The project funded by the Chief Scientist Office will test novel methods to promote the engraftment of insulin secreting cells into the liver of rodents using cellular therapies and other highly innovative techniques. The technique of placing insulin secreting cells in the livers of patients affected by diabetes is currently practised in the Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh, but a major issue is the lack of engraftment of these cells into the liver, which this project seeks to address.

The post is open to applicants with a good academic background (post-doctoral experience preferred, but those near completion of a PhD will also be considered). Experience in animal surgery is highly desirable.
