Post-doctoral position: Genetics of neuroendocrine tumors, Paris, France

08 Aug 2012

A postdoctoral position to study the genetics of neuroendocrine tumours is available in Paris, France. Pheochromocytomas (PCC) and Paragangliomas (PGL) are rare neuroendocrine tumors, inherited in 30% of cases, that can be caused by germline or somatic mutations in one of the ten susceptibility genes identified so far.

The lab has initiated the deciphering of the molecular basis of PCC/PGL tumorigenesis, using transcriptome and CGH array data analyses of a collection of 202 tumors. A three-year post-doctoral position is available to pursue this project. The main objective will be the integrative analyses of SNP-array, methyloma, mirnoma and exome data from our collection and the experimental confirmations of computational findings (new genes and or new diagnosis or prognosis biomarkers) in different experimental models and human tumors.

The laboratory is part of the PARCC, a new research center created to concentrate cardiovascular competence in the Paris area. They are looking for a highly motivated scientist with a good background in genetics, molecular or bioinformatics/computational biology. An orientation towards in silico analyses including interpretation in next generation sequencing data and skills in biostatistics would be an advantage. A strong track-record of publications in peer-reviewed journal and a good ability to work in a collaborative environment would be beneficial.

The application deadline is 10 September 2012. Click on the link below for details of how to apply for this post.
