Professor Michael Nauck (Germany) will present his plenary lecture on ‘Diabetes as a gut disease’ at 10:45-11:30 today in the Main Hall. Professor Nauck has been Head of the Diabeteszentrum Bad Lauterberg (Harz, Germany) since May 2000. He maintains an active clinical practice in addition to a productive research programme. His research focuses on investigating the role of gastric inhibitory polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) as potential therapeutic targets in type two diabetes. Join Professor Nauck for a fascinating talk on the role of gut peptides in type two diabetes.
