Plenary lecture 3 'Mating, sex and the immune system in humans and fish' - 08:30, Main Hall

25 Apr 2012

Professor Manfred Milinski (Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology, Plön, Germany) will deliver the third plenary lecture of this Congress at 8:30 today in the Main Hall. Professor Martin Reincke (Germany) will chair the session and introduce Professor Milinski’s talk ‘Mating, sex and the immune system in humans and fish’. This promises to be a fascinating lecture - Professor Milinski will present his work on sexual selection and the signalling mechanisms behind how females use an odour-based selection strategy to achieve an optimal level of MHC diversity in their offspring.

Does the same system apply in humans? Could we soon be manipulating the function of commercial perfumes to improve our mating strategies? Come along to the Main Hall at 08:30 today to find out.
