Based at Peninsula Medical and Dental School, Plymouth, this 3 year PhD studentship will look into the extent to which paediatric and adult dental patients are exposed to chemicals such as phthalates and bisphenol A (BPA) during the course of treatment. Evidence suggest that these chemicals may interfere with hormonal systems, hence they have been dubbed 'endocrine disrupting chemicals.'
The post will involve chromatographic (LC-MS/MS) analysis of biological samples and potentially, advanced mathematical modelling of data obtained. Applicants with a science background (BDS, BMBS, BSc Biomedical Sciences/Biology/Pharmacology/Chemistry or similar) and an aptitude for mathematics are desirable.
The deadline for applications is 4pm, 6 August 2010. For more information please follow the link below.
