PhD studentship: Critical illness induced adipose tissue differentiation (Leuven, Belgium)

22 May 2013

Added via www.academicpositions.eu. A motivated candidate with a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in biomedical sciences (or related area’s such as biology, bioengineering) and good social and communicative skills and a solid knowledge of English is sought for a PhD studentship conducting research on the critically ill condition.

The candidate will be welcomed to a multi-disciplinary, translational basic/clinical research team investigating key pathways underlying the critical illness induced organ failure and identifying possible protective mechanisms to enhance recovery. The purpose of this PhD is to unravel the differentiation process in adipose tissue during critical illness, using cell culture models to clarify the differentiation/proliferation process of stem cells and their interaction with the macrophages, and animal work to test the impact of stimulation or blocking the differentiation process during critical illness on organ function and recovery.

The deadline for applications is 28 June 2013. For more information on the studentship, and to apply, please follow the link to the job advert below.
