PhD position in epigenetics, Paris, France

27 Jun 2012

A PhD position to study mechanisms responsible for epigenetic marking of imprinted genes to understand the role of epigenetic mutations in human disease is available at the Saint Antoine Research Center, Paris France. The project supervisors are Irène Netchine and Yves Le Bouc and you will be part of a team working on foetal growth imprinted disorders such as Beckwith Wiedemann and Silver Russell Syndromes.

This position is offered by the Marie Curie Initial Training Network INGENIUM, part of the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Union. The INGENIUM ITN brings together leading European researchers from both public and private sectors to train young researchers in the field of epigenetics associated with human disease.

Five parallel research strands will be followed in the project: i) Epigenetic reprogramming & mechanisms for establishment of genomic imprints in germ cells; ii) Role of histone methyltransferases and demethylases in the control of genomic imprinting; iii) Regulatory mechanisms for the somatic maintenance of imprinting; iv) Genetic, epigenetic and environmental factors affecting genomic imprinting in human disease; and v) Genomic imprinting in stem cells and somatic cell reprogramming.

Training will be provided in both research and complementary skills, including a range of cutting edge methodologies. Extensive interactions among participants will take place through exchange visits, network meetings, conferences and laboratory courses. A competitive salary is offered. To apply, please contact [email protected] as soon as possible.
