A 3-year PhD position is available from August 2014 in an Austrian Science Fund (FWF)-funded project in the laboratory of Assistant Professor Olena Andrukhova at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, Dept. of Biomedical Sciences.
The project focuses on the cross-talk between heart and bone (cardioosteology) via the hormone fibroblast growth factor-23, employing a combination of in vivo studies using different genetically modified mouse models with in vitro cell and tissue culture approaches to dissect the role of fibroblast growth factor-23 and Klotho in cardiovascular pathology and in the regulation of sodium and calcium homeostasis.
