Obesity drug 'mediator' likely responsible for thousands of hospitalizations and deaths in France (Medical News Today, 10 February 2012)

A new study shows that Benfluorex (Mediator®), which was used in France from 1976 to 2009 as an adjunct for the treatment of hyperlipidemia and in overweight patients with type 2 diabetes, was probably responsible for around 3,100 hospitalizations and 1,300 deaths due to valvular insufficiency.
