The post is for four years of which 50% of the time will be spent in clinical training and 50% of the time undertaking cutting edge research relating to diabetes, endocrinology or obesity within the Department of Medicine at University College London. The Department has an outstanding record for undertaking translational research and opportunities exist for undertaking research relating to energy homeostasis, understanding the beneficial mechanisms of bariatric surgery, obesity in pregnancy, gestational diabetes, and reproductive physiology.
This post also offers high quality clinical training in diabetes and endocrinology within the hospitals of the North Central Thames SpR rotation. The clinical component of the post will provide training in the in-patient management of diabetic and endocrine conditions. Out-patient training will be provided in general diabetes and endocrinology, accompanied with sub-specialty training in renal diabetes, diabetic and thyroid eye disease clinics, insulin pump, paediatric and adolescent diabetes and endocrinology, reproductive and obstetric diabetes & endocrine medicine, intersex clinic, management of pituitary disorders, adult growth hormone deficiency and acromegaly clinic, osteoporosis clinics, lipid clinics and community diabetes clinics.
