NIHR career development competitions

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) has the following competitions open to provide researchers at all stages of their careers with development opportunities in academic medicine:

NIHR Senior Investigator: Senior Investigators are fundamental to the NIHR Faculty and include some of the country’s foremost researchers, making the most outstanding contribution to clinical and applied health and social care research. Leading researchers funded by the NIHR or the Department of Health’s Policy Research Programme (and who are employed by an NHS Trust, university or charity based in England) are encouraged to apply. Deadline: 30 July 2013.

NIHR/HEE CAT Clinical Lectureship and NIHR/HEE CAT Senior Clinical Lectureship for Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health Professionals: respectively the early post-doctoral element and the most senior level of the NIHR / HEE CAT career pathways and the NIHR / HEE Healthcare Science Research Fellowships Programmes. Deadline: 31 July 2013.

NIHR HEE Healthcare Science Research Fellowship: supports the development of healthcare science research capacity and capability building, by providing funding to undertake research for patient benefit, awarded at three levels: Doctoral, Post-Doctoral and Senior Clinical Lectureship. Deadline: 7 August 2013 (except Senior Clinical Lectureship, see above).

NIHR Clinical Lectureships: the 2013 NIHR Clinical Lectureship recruitment round is now open. Prospective applicants should note that they must contact the relevant Deanery in the first instance for further information on post availability and the recruitment process.  This includes dates for when the posts will be advertised and the associated closing dates.  Successful applicants must be in post before 31 March 2014.
