The University of Sheffield, in partnership with South Yorkshire and South Humber Postgraduate Deanery and the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has developed an exciting pathway of academic clinical training opportunities (http://www.shef.ac.uk/medicine).

Applications are now invited for an Academic Clinical Fellowship in Endocrinology at ST3 level within the Academic ST3 Training Programme. This new post has been created as part of the Modernising Medical Careers (MMC)/NIHR Trainees Coordinating Centre (NIHRTCC) programme of Integrated Academic Training and offers candidates a comprehensive experience of clinical academic medicine working alongside internationally renowned clinicians and researchers.

Highly motivated, enthusiastic individuals wishing to excel in both their clinical and academic training and who have the ambition to be the next generation of world-leading academic clinicians are sought. The post is tenable for up to three years and attracts a NTN(a). During this period it is expected that the Academic Clinical Fellow will begin their specialist training and have the opportunity in the second year, to spend up to nine months in academic research training in endocrinology/diabetes during which they will prepare an application for an externally funded clinical research training fellowship to undertake a PhD.
