News from ECE 2013

22 May 2013

The 15th European Congress of Endocrinology press office was busy this year spreading word of new research presented at the Congress among the wider public, with the aim of improving public awareness and understanding of endocrinology and broadening the impact of the Congress beyond the walls of the Bella Centre. The stories from ECE 2013 include the below:

Obesity may influence heart function through sex hormones (28 April 2013)

Subclinical thyroid condition associated with increased cardiovascular mortality (29 April 2013)

Identification of gene variants affecting fertility offers new treatment possibility (30 April 2013)

MR Brain spectroscopy detects damage in the hippocampus of patients exposed to excess cortisol (1 May 2013)

Highlights from the medical press include a page on stories from ECE 2013 by Medscape medical news, who sent their reporter Lisa Nainggolan along to Copenhagen to cover the Congress. This can be found at http://www.medscape.com/viewcollection/32817 (free registration required).

We also produced a blog to give a light-hearted take on the week's proceedings. If you have any stories from ECE 2013 you'd like to share on this blog we'd love to hear them: [email protected]
