National training scheme for the use of radioiodine in benign thyroid disease (2)

This one day course, taking place 5 March 2013 in Birmingham, represents an essential component of the new national training scheme aiming to allow application for Administration of Radioactive Substances Advisory Committee (ARSAC) certification for iodine-131 administration for the treatment of benign thyroid disease. The other components of training, upon which guidance will be given and log books provided, will be locally arranged and mentored experience of clinical cases, as well as medical physics experience. This training programme will be appropriate for established thyroid specialists and SpRs nearing CCT.

The full programme will be available upon registration and will be recognised for CPD accreditation. The programme will comprise sessions on medical physics, radiation protection and clinical case scenarios and will give an overview of the RCP national guidelines on the use of radioiodine in the management of benign thyroid disease.
