Microparticles as regulators and indicators of cardiovascular and metabolic disease: detection and function.

The Society for Endocrinology is pleased to award a sponsored seminar grant to support a Royal Veterinary College workshop on microparticles on Monday 16 December 2013.

Keynote speakers include:

  • Professor Marion Macey (Bart’s Health NHS Trust London)
    Detection of microparticles in different fluid compartments
  • Dr Paul Harrison (University of Birmingham)
    Methods of platelet microparticle detection and analysis of function
  • Dr Eduard Shantsila (University of Birmingham)
    Microparticles in cardiovascular diseases
  • Dr Aled Clayton (University of Cardiff)
    The role of exosomes in cancer
  • Professor Manuel Mayr (King’s College London)
    MicroRNA detection in circulating microparticles

There will also be opportunities for short oral presentations, a lunchtime poster session with prizes for the best posters, and a Q & A session followed by a wine and cheese reception.
