The PICU at Addenbrooke’s Hospital offers specialist care for children admitted with neurosurgical problems including trauma and support for co-located paediatric subspecialties which include endocrinology and diabetes, haematology and oncology, neurology, gastroenterology, respiratory, spinal surgery, general surgery and cleft/lip and palate surgery. While there is no cardiac surgery at Addenbrooke’s all other forms of cardiovascular, respiratory and renal support are undertaken on the PICU, including high frequency ventilation, nitric oxide, haemofiltration and intracranial pressure monitoring. The post will be part of a 1:7 on call rota with the other intensivists (paediatric and anaesthetic). There are close links with the University of Cambridge and the department has a strong academic interest.
