King's College London: Chair/ Reader of Human Nutrition and Metabolism (clinical or non-clinical)

26 Jun 2008

Applications are invited from both clinical and non-clinical academics for the post of Chair/Reader of Human Nutrition and Metabolism. The post has been established as part of a £4.5 million package funded by Tate & Lyle to strengthen research on obesity and related disorders (metabolic syndrome/type 2 diabetes) carbohydrate biology. King’s College London has an expanding multidisciplinary research programme in metabolic syndrome and obesity, which this post will support. Clinical research in this group has been furthered by building a Clinical Research Facility at St Thomas’ Hospital which opened in April 2008. The post will be suitable for either a leading non-clinical scientist or a clinical academic. In the latter case, clinical sessions would be available within Guys and St Thomas’ Foundation Trust in the relevant clinical disciplines (diabetes/general medicine/pathology/clinical pharmacology) and an honorary clinical contract would be arranged. The appointed person would be expected to develop research of international excellence, focused upon human nutrition and metabolism within this multidisciplinary programme. The opportunities for collaboration, together with state of the art facilities, offer a unique opportunity for an outstanding individual to lead an international programme in one of the UK’s premier nutrition groups. The post-holder will also contribute to the teaching and administration of the UK’s longest established undergraduate nutrition programme and a number of very popular postgraduate research degrees. Informal enquiries may be addressed to: Professor Tom Sanders Head of Division of Nutritional Sciences. Email: [email protected]
