Via healthjobsuk.com. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Diabetic Specialist Nurse to join the multi disciplinary diabetes team at Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. Whilst holding a clinical caseload, the practitioner will contribute to the enhancement of diabetes nursing by providing specialist care within the inpatient and outpatient areas. Act as a credible role model, educator and expert clinician in the hospital setting, as well as providing formal education. In addition to the provision of clinical care and development of training packages, he/she will be closely involved in establishing and developing interdisciplinary care pathways, protocols and audits, with a particular focus on inpatient care.

The post-holder will need to gain and maintain a clear understanding of the challenges and obstacles faced by primary and secondary care in meeting the recommendations made in the National Service Framework for Diabetes and also of the wider changes and developments in nursing and the NHS.
