Graduate Research Assistant, Royal Veterinary College, London

01 Apr 2009

A three year position funded by the Wellcome Trust is available immediately for an enthusiastic graduate with some biomedical research experience to join the RVC’s Department of Veterinary Basic Sciences. You should hold a first degree in biological or medical sciences, have an interest in the pathogenesis of metabolic disease with experience in cell culture, molecular and cell biology techniques. Experience with in vivo models would also be an advantage. The role will involve assisting with all aspects of the funded research project and some general laboratory tasks. The research project will investigate the roles of the adipose-derived hormone adiponectin in metabolism and in promoting insulin sensitivity in skeletal muscle and identifying the molecular pathways mediating these effects. It will combine in vivo physiological and in vitro proteomic approaches in an ultimate attempt to delineate diabetes target genes. Informal enquiries should be directed to Dr Mark Cleasby on Tel: 020 7468 5269 or email: [email protected]. The closing date for applications is 23 April 2009 and interviews will take place on Monday 11 May 2009.
