Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) is a national programme led by frontline clinicians, to help improve the quality of care within the NHS by identifying and reducing unwarranted variations in service and practice. It is a partnership between the NHS Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Trust (RNOH) and the Operational Productivity Directorate of NHS Improvement (NHSI).
GIRFT’s latest newsletter features an interview with clinical lead for diabetes, Professor Partha Kar, who shares insights into his life and career. He says, “the opportunity in front of us all is perhaps most exciting - whether it's the rise of patient power, new data on the impact of diet in type 2 diabetes, new medications or a new generation of professionals stepping up to make a difference, the future is bright. And the possibilities? Endless”.
