Fukushima meltdown not causing many cancers, UN scientists say (The Japan Times, 3 April 2014)

A study by the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR) found that unlike the Chernobyl disaster, the Fukushima nuclear incident was unlikely to lead to an increase in future cancer rates, though there is a theoretical increased risk of developing thyroid cancer among heavily exposed children.
