Fellowship, University of Genoa, Italy

Via http://ec.europa.eu/euraxess. A Fellowship entitled 'Study of the functional effects of the Abscisic acid hormone, development of a detection assay and of pharmacologic agonists/antagonists for pre-clinical studies' is available at the University of Genoa, Italy.

The recent discovery of abscisic acid (ABA) as a new human hormone is important both from a scientific (this is the first example of conservation of a plant hormone in mammals) and from a clinical perspective. The ability of ABA to activate pro-inflammatory responses and to stimulate insulin release makes it an attractive target for the development of new anti-inflammatory and anti-diabetic drugs. The possible applications of these lead compounds would have significant impact both clinically and economically (metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes affect 1 adult in 4)

To be eligible to apply for this post, candidates must have knowledge of the Italian language. More information can be found at the link below. The deadline for applications is 10 September 2012.
