Excitement from the EYES!

05 May 2014

By Dr Elahu Gosney Sustarsic (Germany)...

This is my first ECE meeting, and so far, it has been a great success! On the first day, it was great to see many familiar faces. As a young investigator, one of the highlights so far was the exciting EYES session yesterday, which featured talks by several talented young endocrinologists on topics ranging from current PCOS treatment options to potential new anti-cancer drugs. It's nice to see the conference organizers groom the next generation of leaders in endocrinology by scheduling a dedicated session for them.

I am most excited about a sympsosium coming up tomorrow which brings together my long-time and PhD mentor, Dr Kopchick, and the head of my current lab, Dr Bidlingmaier. Although they will both present on the metabolic and hormonal consequences of high-fat diets in rodents, Dr Kopchick will present data from studies using mouse models with altered growth hormone action while Dr Bidlingmaier will present the effects of low-carbohydrate, high-fat diets in rat studies. These two talks will be followed by an exciting talk by Dr Yeo in the cutting-edge field of neuronal regulation of metabolism.

For tonight, EYES and KLUB30 have organized what promises to be a tasty and fun evening. This is a wonderful opportunity for young and young-at-heart ECE attendees to network with their peers over some delicious Polish food, good music and lively conversation. Hope to see you there!
