European Reference Network for Rare Endocrine conditions – Official Initiation

Thursday 9 March 2017 marked a memorial day for European expert care, with the official installation of the European Reference Networks at the 3rd ERN Conference in Vilnius, Lithuania.

During this meeting, Alberto Pereira and Olaf Hiort, as the adult and paediatric chair of the European Reference Network for Rare Endocrine conditions (ERN-Endo), jointly received the certificate for Endo-ERN by the EU commissioner on Health and Food Safety, Vytenis Andriukaitis.

Endo-ERN was recognised as a successful example of a broad thematic network covering the expertise throughout life, as was exemplified during the conference by the opening plenary presentation by Alberto Pereira entitled: Coordinators view on network management and governance.

The European Society of Endocrinology, jointly with the European Society of Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE), supports ERN-Endo and looks forward to the benefits the network brings to patients across Europe.
