European Examination in Clinical Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism
In 2018, the European Society of Endocrinology, in collaboration with the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), will hold the first Pan-European Examination in Clinical Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism.
Building on the success of the already well-established Specialty Certificate Examination in Endocrinology and Diabetes in the UK, developed by the Society for Endocrinology (SfE) and the Association of British Clinical Diabetologists (ABCD), in collaboration with the Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom (MRCPUK), ESE and UEMS are providing European Clinical Endocrinologists the opportunity to assess their competence and receive certification endorsed by both organisations.
The Examination will be computer-based, multiple choice questions, which present clinical scenarios, assessing your medical knowledge as well as your competency in diagnosis, investigation, management and prognosis. The tests will be taken at independently operated assessment centres across Europe.
We have listened to requests from our members to provide greater opportunities for them to gain internationally standardised recognition of their level of clinical expertise. In response, we have developed this examination to be high quality, clinically relevant and accessible across Europe, allowing candidates to take part without the need for unnecessary travel costs.
As growing internationalism provides opportunities for clinicians to work abroad, we understand the importance of universally relevant qualifications that differentiate between candidates. We hope that this examination will provide endocrinologists throughout Europe with a resource allowing them to stand out and be recognised for their abilities.
More information, including how to apply, will be made available later this year. If you would like to hear more about the examination, please use the following link to register your interest in the European Examination.
