Estimating Vitamin D dose

08 May 2013

McKenna and Murray analyzed 41 low-dose daily Vitamin D supplementation studies, finding that the Endocrine Society’s Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) underestimates the Vitamin D dose response in patients at risk of Vitamin D deficiency. Finding a Vitamin D dose-response nearly fourfold higher than the CPG estimate, they suggest a supplementation rate constant of 5.0 nmol/l per 100 IU per day.
