30 Jun 2016

We are proud to announce that of the 1st of July 2016, ESE has been accepted to join the Alliance for Biomedical Research in Europe.

The Alliance for Biomedical Research in Europe (BioMed Alliance) is a non-profit organization representing leading European research and medical societies uniting more than 400,000 researchers and health professionals. The BioMed Alliance is committed to promoting excellence in European biomedical research and innovation with the goal of improving the health and well-being of all European citizens.

The BioMed Alliance has achieved recognition and strength in negotiations at the European Union (EU) level and was a major partner during the elaboration of the final Horizon 2020 proposal, including the creation of a Scientific Panel for Health (SPH). The BioMed Alliance has also developed the Code of Conduct for healthcare professionals and scientific organizations, approved by all members. The BioMed Alliance Code of Conduct sets out core principles to maintain and enhance professional independence, objectivity and scientific integrity.  As a member of the BioMed Alliance, ESE will be responsible for adherence to this Code of Conduct.

The BioMed Alliance has addressed important issues for biomedical and health research in the EU such as changes to the EU Data Protection Regulation, the EU research budget and European Citizens’ Initiatives that could hamper research.  BioMed Alliance statements followed by meetings with decision makers have contributed to positive developments on data protection regulation and on securing the budget allocated to Horizon 2020.

We are delighted to have been accepted as a member of the BioMed Alliance, and look forward to being an active participant in its activities.
