ERR-alpha and osteoclasts

09 Nov 2010

The orphan nuclear receptor ERR-alpha is proposed as a modulator of estrogen signalling. To determine the role of ERR-alpha in osteoclast biology, Bonnelye and colleagues knocked down ERR-alpha activity in the RAW264.7 monocyte-macrophage cell line. Their data show that the impairment of ERR-alpha function does not alter osteoclast precursor proliferation or differentiation but does alter the adhesion/spreading and migration capacity of mature osteoclasts. Bonnelye et al. (2010) Journal of Molecular Endocrinology accepted preprint.
