On 21 June 2010, veterinary surgeon Marianne Kraugerud defended her doctoral thesis entitled "Endocrine disruption by persistent organic pollutants: effect studies using in vivo and in vitro models" at the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science. The thesis looked at the effects of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) and perfluorinated compounds (PFC) on steroid hormone systems.
