The Society for Endocrinology is the major British learned society representing scientists, clinicians and nurses working with hormones. The Society promotes and supports all aspects of endocrinology for the public benefit.

The Society’s commercial division Bioscientifica is looking to recruit an Editorial Assistant to join its Publishing team.

This post would ideally suit a bioscience or biomedicine graduate.

Reporting to the Editorial and Production Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the peer review process for several of our journals and will be the main point of contact for the Editorial Boards and authors of those journals.

Responsibilities include:

  • Administering manuscripts from initial receipt to acceptance or rejection
  • Maintaining records on the manuscript tracking system
  • Monitoring numbers of submissions and acceptances
  • Producing regular statistics on manuscript progress
  • Arrangements for Editorial Board meetings and social events
  • Attending Editorial Board meetings (both UK and overseas)

To be considered for this role, you will need the following: Educated to degree level, preferably in bioscience/biomedicine.

  • Highly efficient and organized
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good IT skills – MS Office competency
  • The ability to use initiative and represent the company positively both internally and externally
