Disease? Diet? Drugs? Claim a free place to join the discussion at Obesity Update 2017

22 Dec 2016

Is obesity a disease or not? Do exercise and diet alone really work? What drugs are in the pipeline?

For students and early career medics wanting to discover the latest thinking in clinical treatment of obesity, we are offering free places to attend Obesity Update 2017.

The event takes place on 9 January at the Royal College of Physicians and is presented by the Society for Endocrinology’s Metabolic and Obesity Endocrine Network, in collaboration with the Association of Physicians Specialising in Obesity UK (APSO UK).

Topics include the evidence behind non-pharmacological intervention for weight loss, the relevance of cardiovascular outcome trials in T2DM for the management of obesity, and a review of clinical trial data and drugs in the pipeline.

Also find out the latest on commissioning guidelines and obesity training, and don’t miss Mark Evans and Mike Lean debate whether or not obesity should be classed as a disease.

Free places will cover the cost of registration and travel costs up to £100 for students and early career medics (both Society members and non-members).

Full details of the event are on the Obesity Update 2017 webpages. Places will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please contact us at [email protected] to request your free place or find out more. The deadline for applications is 5 January 2017.
