Diabetes is one of the biggest health challenges facing the UK today. Diabetes UK is the leading charity that cares for, connects with and campaigns on behalf of all people affected by and at risk of diabetes. Diabetes UK is looking to appoint an exceptional Director of Research to lead the research funding programme to support the delivery of the Charity’s strategic objectives, to evolve, implement and evaluate the research strategy, and to champion Diabetes UK’s research profile externally, both in the UK and internationally. Reporting to the Chief Executive and a member of the Executive Team, the Director of Research will also contribute to the corporate leadership of the organisation across care, prevention, support, campaigning and fundraising.

The successful candidate will bring significant leadership and management experience in a health research setting. Preferably he/she will bring extensive research administration experience and the communication skills and gravitas to represent the charity to external audiences, including the scientific community.
