Developing research priorities in endocrine surgery

The British Association of Endocrine and Thyroid Surgeons Executive Committee recently asked for suggestions of topics for research priorities in endocrine surgery.

A total of 107 replies were received, a third from surgeons and two thirds from patients. All suggestions were organized as follows:

• Thyroidectomy - technical issues
• Thyroid - benign
• Thyroid - malignant
• Parathyroid
• Adrenal
• Pancreas
• Medical

The followup to this survey now invites endocrinologists to assess the following 20 topics according to their clinical importance, feasibility as a trial and suitability for a multicenter approach. 

This second round of voting is part of an established Delphi approach to develop research priorities and your involvement is fundamental for its success.
