Countdown to ECE 2015 has begun!

02 Mar 2015

The programme organising committee are excited to announce that is this already set to be a record breaking year for ECE2015:

  • We have received over 1,700 abstracts – a record for any standalone European Congress
  • 165 individual speakers are lined up to present their work over the five day programme
  • Delegate numbers are up 133 % compared to this time last year

We met this weekend to confirm abstract selections for the congress - a mammoth task given the number of submissions! Many thanks to our online reviewers for their help with the selection process. Authors will be informed of the decision in the next few weeks.

This year we have the pleasure of welcoming Carlos Dieguez (Spain), Robert Semple (UK), Ronald Kahn (USA), Juliet Compston (UK), Guillaume Assie (France), Andrew Hattersley (UK) and Lewis Cantley (USA) as plenary speakers. They will present on topics as diverse and cutting edge as PI3 kinase in diabetes, obesity and cancer; genomics of adrenocorticol tumours; and obesity and the skeleton.

In addition, we are building on the success of last year’s Hot Topics Session by inviting two leading academics to discuss their latest innovations in endocrinology research:

  1. Matthias Tschoep (Germany) will discuss his recent Nature Medicine paper in which he described a novel single molecule based approach to reverse the hallmarks of metabolic syndrome in mouse and rat models of obesity. His approach represents an exciting new polypharmaceutical therapy for the treatment of diabetes and obesity.
  2. Giampaolo Trivellin (Italy) will review his work on X-linked acrogigantism (X-LAG): a new form of infant-onset pituitary gigantis that has a severe clinical phenotype and requires very challenging disease management.

We look forward to seeing you on 16 May in Dublin!
