Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB) invites applications for a Consultant Endocrinologist. This new substantive post will incorporate general endocrinology, late effects and young adult clinics, and offers the opportunity to develop a specialist interest to complement the existing sub specialist interests within the department. The successful candidate will join a team staffed by NHS and University clinicians, with 3 full time NHS Endocrinology Consultants and 6 Academic Consultants (one currently vacant) who hold honorary contracts with the Trust. The department has close links with Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Birmingham Women’s Hospital and works in close collaboration with endocrine surgeons, neurosurgeons, oncologists, paediatricians, obstetricians and gynaecologists. The service centres around a busy outpatient department located at UHB, and conditions treated include thyroid disorders, pituitary disease, adrenal disease, reproductive disorders, neuroendocrine tumours, conditions affecting survivors of childhood cancers and metabolic bone disease.
The post holder will also be expected to enhance care and patient safety by participating in a consultant-led ward consult service.
Applicants must be on the GMC Register and should have a CCT in Endocrinology, Diabetes and General Medicine, or be within 6 months of achieving this.
