Professor Stephen O’Rahilly FRS is seeking a clinical research fellow to join his research team investigating mechanisms leading to human insulin resistance and Type 2 diabetes. Funding (from a Novo Nordisk Foundation award) is available for three years in the first instance. After an initial probationary period, candidates who wish to undertake a PhD at the University of Cambridge would be supported to do so. The research will involve physiological studies of human volunteers and patients with defined genetic conditions or traits as well as laboratory examination of biomaterials obtained from these participants. The overall aim of the work is to better understand the link between over-nutrition and its adverse metabolic outcomes.
Applicants must be medically qualified and undertaking post-graduate clinical training in a relevant discipline. You will have a strong CV and a desire to pursue a career in academic medicine.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment. This appointment also requires an Honorary Clinical Contract.
