The Society for Endocrinology is the major British learned society representing scientists, clinicians and nurses working with hormones. The Society promotes and supports all aspects of endocrinology for the public benefit.

The Society, along with its commercial division Bioscientifica, are seeking to appoint a highly motivated individual to join the Membership and Professional Affairs team as a Clinical Projects Manager to advance and support the work of the Society’s clinical research and audit programme, focusing on management of a medical register. The post includes data entry, data and statistical analysis, running database reports, administrative support to the project board. The post will involve extensive travel within the UK to assist with data entry and training of new users as necessary.

Responsibilities

Reporting to and working with the Policy and Professional Affairs Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Data entry and analysis
  • Statistical analysis (SPSS)
  • Visit participating centres across the UK
  • Collecting data from medical records
  • Providing administrative support for the project board to include
    • preparation of meeting agendas, papers and minutes
    • all ethics administration with IRAS and local research and development offices

Key skills and attributes

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • BSc/PhD in a relevant discipline i.e. biosciences, nursing
  • IT literate
  • Able to use and query a relational database management system
  • Able to undertake statistical analysis (SPSS)
  • Prepared to travel in the UK
  • Knowledge and experience of the UK ethics system
  • Experience of preparing agendas and committee minutes
  • Familiar with extracting data from medical notes an advantage
