The Medical Research Council - MRC Unit for Lifelong Health and Ageing - are looking to recruit a Career Development Fellow for a three year position to work on 'Endocrine and metabolic pathways to musculoskeletal, cognitive and cardiovascular ageing'. The Unit is responsible for the MRC National Survey of Health and Development (NSHD), the first national birth cohort study, which has biological, psychological and social data collected from 0-64 years on five and a half thousand British men and women born in March 1946.

In collaboration with colleagues at the Universities of Bristol and Manchester and the MRC Epidemiology Unit in Cambridge, they wish to appoint a graduate with a PhD in epidemiology or biomedical science, or a clinical trainee wishing to undertake a PhD. You will develop expertise in life course epidemiology, investigating if early life factors influence adult endocrine and metabolic function which in turn may affect change in musculoskeletal, cognitive and cardiovascular function from midlife to early old age. You will work under the supervision of senior scientists in the team and their expert collaborators based in Bristol (led by Professor Yoav Ben Shlomo), Cambridge (led by Dr Ken Ong) and Manchester (led by Professor Fred Wu).

Motivated researchers with a biological or clinical background, a record of publications, experience of survey data and excellent team and communication skills will be at an advantage.
