Business Development Manager (maternity cover)

Salary: £36,000 – £41,000

Location: Bristol

Contract type: Maternity cover (9 months) Full-time

 

The Society for Endocrinology is the major UK learned society representing scientists, clinicians and nurses working with hormones. The Society promotes and supports all aspects of endocrinology for the public benefit.

Now, the Society is looking to recruit a Business Development Manager (maternity cover) to join its Membership and Professional Affairs team.

This post is an exciting opportunity to be actively involved in the work of the Society; building up our knowledge strategy and capability and supporting our professional members. The post will suit a highly motivated person and will involve managing and advancing the work of the Society’s Professional Affairs team.

You will be educated to graduate level ideally in a scientific or medical discipline, with a background in business and product development. The ideal candidate will have at least two years’ experience in a similar role at management level, with experience of programme management of projects, development of new opportunities, managing a team, strategic development and a strong record of delivery.

This is not a fundraising role, but will be critical in helping us develop tangible benefit from the extensive knowledge resources at our disposal.

 

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Membership and Professional Affairs the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Working with the Head of Membership and Professional Affairs to develop and deliver Society strategy around knowledge development and dissemination
  • Develop Society educational strategy, monitor activities and effectiveness of programmes
  • Policy level input and programme/project management of clinical research and audit projects
  • Maintain an overview of relevant committee activities, impact and effectiveness and resource allocation to them
  • Maintaining an overview of SfE educational activities and effectiveness and resource allocation to them
  • Policy level input and programme management of identified research and audit projects
  • Policy level input and development of the Society’s clinical and scientific guidelines
  • Financial and team management

To be considered for this role, you will need the following:

Key skills and attributes

  • At least 2 years management experience
  • BSc in a relevant discipline
  • Project management and product development
  • Good interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Willingness to work proactively
