You will be responsible for co-ordinating and project managing the Society’s educational activities and scientific meetings – working with relevant members of the BPS governing Board/Committees and throughout the spine of the Membership, to construct and pursue educational strategies that are aligned with the Society’s overall purposes. To be effective in this role, you will need to have an understanding of the role of pharmacology, be a good organiser with well developed interpersonal skills and be able to engage pharmacologists and other life scientists at all levels of seniority (from undergraduate – professorial) as well as external stakeholders, including school children, teachers and lecturers in schools and colleges. You will ideally be a life scientist or pharmacologist, who has applied your science in a business setting such as training, marketing or business development. Previous experience of project management of conferences and/or education courses is desirable.
Head of Communications and Development - 09286
This role requires someone with a media and communications background, ideally but not essentially obtained in the life sciences industry. Experience is required of the modern range of communications tools and effective delivery of information through journals, websites, pod-casts, meeting presentations, e-learning etc. Experience in fundraising and generation of sponsorship from the corporate sector is also desirable. A primary function of the role will be development of a new website which will require the ability to understand the needs of a variety of stakeholders from professionals through to members of the public. You could be working currently in a medical communications agency or medical information / sales and marketing environment. A life sciences or pharmacology qualification, whilst not essential would be an advantage.
Both roles will involve mentoring and management of other staff and require excellent presentational skills (oral and written). They are permanent positions, subject to a 6 month probationary period with final salary pension schemes based in easily accessible offices in Islington, London.
