Bone metastases in neuroendocrine tumours

26 Jan 2015

Van Loon and colleagues conducted a multi-institution evaluation of the natural history and complications of bone metastases across multiple neuroendocrine tumour (NET) subtypes. They found that bone metastases occur in a substantial number of patients diagnosed with NETs. Patients are often symptomatic and many develop skeletal-related events (SREs). Given the recent therapeutic advances and increasing life expectancy of patients with NETs, the development of guidelines for the surveillance and clinical care of bone metastases from NETs is needed.
