Via www.jobs.ac.uk. The Breakthrough Toby Robins Breast Cancer Research Centre, Chelsea, London have a vacancy for a bioinformatician with a strong background in biology/molecular biology to join their endocrinology team.

The objective of this post is to undertake a research project aiming to identify the molecular features and phenotypic and genotypic determinants of response/benefit to aromatase inhibitors (AIs) in primary breast cancers. The successful applicant will provide bioinformatics support and analyses alongside another bioinformatician for molecular biology projects within the department and build on existing collaborations with internal and external teams. In this role, the candidate will be mainly responsible for the bioinformatics analysis and support for complex genomic data, clinical, biological, microarray and array CGH so experience with complex datasets would be an advantage.

Applicants should possess a degree in biological science and MSc or preferably a PhD in bioinformatics. Good communication, organisational and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to work to deadlines. Appointment will be on a Fixed Term Contract for up to 3 years in the first instance, with a starting salary in the region of £29,555-£34,771 p.a. inclusive, based on previous experience. Progression to £39,985 p.a. inclusive can be achieved with exceptional performance.
