At the occasion of the 2022 Belgian National Day, Prof Brigitte Velkeniers (Brussels, Belgium) was honored/elevated by King Philippe of Belgium to the title of Baroness for her contribution to medicine and her role as the first female chair of the Belgian Royal Academy of Medicine. Dr Velkeniers retired recently as Head of Department of Internal Medicine at the Free University of Brussels (VUB), but remains active as clinical consultant at the VUB University Hospital. She is the President of the Belgian Endocrine Society and member of ECAS.
Dr Velkeniers official title is Prof Dr Brigitte Baroness Velkeniers-Hoebanckx.
